About Me

Nicola Lowe - I am a practitioner of 32 years, a keen surfer and a crazy cat lady!

My life in the Healing arts began around the age of 12 when a scoliosis and chronic back pain took me to the greatest inspiration of my life, a Naturopath/Chiropractor by the name of Robert Smith. Robert, who was studying constantly, practised every technique he learned on my family.

One day after massaging and adjusting my back he stood at my feet about 30cm away and held his hands off my body, I could feel the energy of that as clear as having him touch me. That was the beginning of my fascination with energy and distance healing. My second experience of this was being pushed across a room by the energy of a Yi Chuan master in my massage training at the age of 21. He was 10 feet away from me and pushed me against a wall energetically. This blew my mind!

I was also lucky to have a dear grandmother who taught me the art of Dowsing (the use of pendulum). She would dowse to see where and when to plant seeds in her garden. My mother has continued this lineage and is now considered an expert in her field, teaching Dowsing for the energy medicine course at Nature Care College.

I’ve always said the work chose me and I’ve never done anything else as a career other than fill in jobs so I can do what I really love. In 1987 I completed a 2 year Oriental massage course which introduced me to
Shiatsu and Tui Na. I worked in this field mostly for myself for a couple of years before travelling and then returning home to enrol in a 3 1/2 year Naturopathy course in 1989, which set me on a path in herbal
medicine, and homoeopathy, and nutrition. I was lucky to study at a time when the teaching faculty at Nature Care College in Sydney were pioneers who taught the art as well as the science.

My experience ranges from working as a warm up massage therapist in an osteopathic clinic in my student years to owning and operating a health food store and clinic here in Laurieton. I am a mother and grandmother and have always used natural medicine as the first line of treatment, firmly believing that prevention is better than cure. I’ve worked in a variety of multi modality practises and health food stores for the past 30 years. I love working with people and seeing them become happier and healthier, but most of all I love watching people reconnect to a place of deep peace and self understanding.

My learning edge and continuing passion now is the Biodynamic Craniosacral work I began 12 years ago with Roger Gilchrist (Wellness Institute New York) and Giorgia Milne (Touch of Presence Berkley California), two of the most refined teachers I’ve had the pleasure of studying with. This work has helped make sense of my early experiences of energy work. Craniosacral therapy is the most gentle and respectful of all the work I’ve practised and yet the most powerful as far as facilitating healing for the client. It works deeply into the central nervous system and the embryonic forces that build and maintain the body. It can be used therapeutically as well as for the purpose of consciousness evolution, depending on the clients needs. It is a deeply still practise and draws upon the therapist’s ability to go deeply inward and hold space for healing to happen inherently. This work is wonderful for healing trauma of any kind, and particularly good post surgically. It is also effective for repatterning birth dynamics, calming the nervous system, and treating chronic conditions that don’t respond to conventional treatments.

My Modalities

I live by the beach on the beautiful mid north coast and have been a surfer for the past 30 years. I travel often to the US where my partner and I live part of the year, skiing and hiking in the beautiful mountains and high deserts of Utah.

What a life I have been fortunate to lead, a life that chose me!
